Have you been feeling unmotivated at work recently? Discouraged, unfocused, disinterested? It happens to the best of us. But letting these feelings fester will only make things worse – you’ll want to change your mindset and get things back on track sooner rather than later.
Here’s what to do to reset yourself and get your old productivity back:
Take a break.
When was the last time you had a break from work? No, not a lunch break – a real break. Whether it’s a full-fledged vacation or just a day off, stepping away from work entirely and allowing yourself to rest and recharge is always advised. Sometimes, all that’s needed to start feeling like yourself again on the job is to take some time away from it.
Get active.
Getting some physical activity tends to do wonders for your mental well-being, not to mention your body. And that doesn’t mean you have to run a half-marathon over the weekend. Step outside and take a walk during your lunch hour. Go for a light jog in the evening after you’ve gotten home from work. Push yourself to include some physical activity in your day, and you’ll be amazed how much better you’ll feel.
Celebrate the little things.
Sometimes, we focus on celebrating the big accomplishments at work – completing a big project, getting a raise – and forget that celebrating the little things can be very beneficial, too. Recognize and reward yourself for small accomplishments, like helping a coworker, getting off an hour early, or helping to make a new hire feel comfortable during their first week.
Set new goals.
What goals do you have for yourself at work? When was the last time you set new ones? Sometimes, when you’re feeling unproductive and unmotivated at work, it’s helpful to revamp your goals and remind yourself why you do what you do. It’s a great way to reset your outlook toward work and get back to feeling like yourself again.
