Let’s face it: We’ve all had a tough couple of years. From the pandemic to widespread societal changes to a tough employment market, there are a variety of challenges we all face every day. And your employees are no exception. When was the last time you made sure your company was doing all it could to support their well-being?
Here are a few easy ways to support your employees’ well-being:
Check-In
Do you talk to your employees face-to-face? Ask them how they’re doing? What they’re satisfied with on the job, and what they aren’t? Simply checking in with your employees and finding out what they think is a great way to support their well-being. That doesn’t mean you have to invade their personal lives – just find out how they’re feeling about their job and their work-life balance. You’ll be surprised how much you learn about what your company is doing right, and what it could do better.
Encourage Self-Care
Between work, family life, other obligations outside of the job, side hustles, and everything else that life demands of your employees, things can be a bit stressful. It’s wise to encourage your employees to practice self-care so that they don’t become burnt out. Self-care can take a variety of forms for different people – participating in a beloved hobby, going for a spa day, exercising, shopping… the list goes on. Make sure your employees know that you value their well-being outside of work by encouraging them to take time to themselves away from the job, and giving them the time off necessary to do so.
Be Flexible
Not every company can institute a fully remote work policy. But most companies can implement some kind of flexibility to provide employees with better well-being and work-life balance. Whether it’s a hybrid schedule in which employees work some days in-office and others at home, or flexible start and end times, employees will appreciate the effort. Remember: You just never know what someone is going through. An extra hour in the morning to drop the kids off at school or the chance to work at home for a day to recharge can make all the difference.
